As the Senate prepares to convene and review the charges against him, public discourse continues to unfold.
Lawyer Kibe Mungai has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that the composition of the Senate may provide Gachagua with a potential path for defence.
How did Kibe Mungai respond to Gachagua's impeachment?
The lawyer criticised the MPs for their rapid vote, stating they acted "like sheep" without thoroughly reading or understanding the charges presented against the deputy president.
Mungai emphasised that the constitution does not specify a timeline for the impeachment process, arguing that the 14 days allocated for the proceedings were insufficient for properly addressing the allegations.
He condemned the haste with which the MPs moved to impeach Gachagua, noting that it did not allow for adequate consideration of the various accusations levied against him.
"You cannot treat the removal of a deputy president like a public emergency, you are doing it within 14 days. Even a chicken thief is not tried within a month," he stated.
Why does Rigathi Gachagua believe in Senate?
Meanwhile, the deputy president led a spirited praise song at the ACK Diocese in Embu, on October 13, undeterred by his ongoing challenges.
Before the singing, he expressed his hope that the Senate, made up of professionals, would uphold the rule of law and respect the will of the people.
He also encouraged Kenyans to remain peaceful, regardless of the outcome of his case.
