?Anastacia is a big inspiration for me ? raspy, raw and heartfelt?: Ella Eyre?s honest playlist

The first song I fell in love with

The first song that I remember really feeling inspired by was Good Luck by Basement Jaxx. My mum had all their CDs. Good Luck was the first song I sung for my managers before they took me on board, so I still have a big love for it.

The first single I bought

My mum gave me money to go and buy Feels Just Like It Should by Jamiroquai for 69p from HMV in Oxford Circus. It was the first time I?d bought a physical CD.

The song I do at karaoke

I hate karaoke. But if I had to, I?d do I?m Outta Love by Anastacia, because I can show off my voice. She?s always been a big inspiration ? so raspy, raw and heartfelt.

The best song to play at a party

Millionaire by Kelis featuring Andr? 3000, because of the rap: ?Where there is cheese, there are rats / Wherever there are rats, there are cats / Wherever there are cats, there are dogs.?

The song I can no longer listen to

A friend of mine at school borrowed my iPad, and when she gave it back, she?d listened to Love Story by Taylor Swift so many times it was at the top of my most-listened songs. Even though I like Taylor Swift, it really annoyed me that my friend flipped all my data.

The song that gets me up in the morning

Skankin? Sweet by Chronixx. It?s also my anxiety song, Whenever I?m feeling low on self-esteem, or not feeling great in myself, it always makes me feel better.

The song I secretly like but tell everyone I hate

I?m not ashamed to like anything, but people wouldn?t expect me to love Mantra by Bring Me the Horizon. I guess a true metalhead would say that album is very pop, but as I?m a pop girl, I find it very heavy, and it works for me in the gym.

The song that changed my life

Waiting All Night by Rudimental was the first song I ever put my voice on, when I was 17. It went to No 1, we won a Brit award, and on the way home from the O2, I?d gained 80,000 followers on Twitter. It absolutely exploded my life.

The song that makes me cry

I was at a party in Ghana, someone had their iPhone attached to a speaker, and Adaugo by the Cavemen came on. It?s really beautiful, and takes me back to that moment whenever I hear it.

Ella Eyre?s new album Everything in Time is out on 21 November.
