What did Jane Wacu say about Janet Wanja?
Wanja, who was recently diagnosed with gallbladder cancer, died on Thursday, December 26, while receiving treatment.
Her body was moved to the Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home along Mbagathi Way.
Wanja?s friend and former teammate, Jane Wacu, was devastated by her loss.
Following Wanja's death, Wacu shared numerous photos of them playing for the Malkia Strikers together.
She also posted a video of Wanja speaking about her life as a trainer. Behind her was a portrait of her and Wacu during their playing days.
Wacu said she planned to travel to see Wanja before she died.
"She was my role model, my roommate, my sister, my lookalike, my position mate, my roommate, and my best friend. We shared a lot with her, but I feel left alone.
I was planning to see you, but I guess I will come for your burial. I'm sad and hurt," she said.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Jerusha Achieng, who attended Mukumu Girls High School with Wanja, said she was destined for greatness.
?She was the star player, and it was no surprise when she made her Olympics debut at age 20, a feat very few people can match.

Why did Janet Wanja almost die?
Nine years ago, the sportswoman had a close call with death.
Wanja said she thought she would die from issues with her stomach.
She described it as her lowest moment, and thanked God for healing her.
