Dennis Itumbi confirms Butere Girls' principal is to retire

However, the facts of the story were shared by the head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi, during an interview at Citizen TV.

The former journalist was part of a panel that featured on Jeff Koinange Live with the main topic being the creative economy and especially details surrounding Echoes of War play controversy.

While speaking about Butere Girls, just as the show came to an end, Itumbi denied claims of retribution from the government towards the teachers, noting that there was nothing as such.

He said maybe it might be coming from the principal to the teachers, but denied any government involvement in punishing the teachers on basis of the play.

He also confirmed that the principal is set to retire in two months, which was also confirmed by Cleophas Malala, who was part of the panel.

Itumbi noted that the teacher has had a good career and will be allowed to finish her term in the school.

"There is absolutely no retribution on the basis of the play. In fact the principal at Butere Girls, if my fact are correct, and I need to recheck them, but the last time I heard this conversation, the teacher at Butere Girls is going to retire is the next two months. So she has had a steering career and we will allow her to finish her call of duty," he said.

Jennifer Omondi transfer rumours are false

The news also quashes rumours that have been rife on social media in the past few days, claiming that Omondi was transferred to Wajir Day Secondary School in Wajir County.

This came after the controversy surrounding the Echoes of War play at the National Drama Festival, with claims that the script had been altered to fit a certain agenda.

There were also claims that she had been ordered to resign, which now seem just rumours on social media.

Dennis Itumbi sends an apology to Butere Girls

On the same show, TUKO.co.ke reported that Dennis Itumbi apologised to Butere Girls' students involved in the Drama Festivals for the mistreatment and teargas they had to endure at the national stage.

Itumbi said his apology was on behalf of the government, admitting that the situation could have been handled differently.

He said the government will try to come up with remedies, saying he understood how important it is to perform, being a former actor at his school.
