He was transported approximately 400 kilometres to Nairobi and detained at the Central Police Station, despite the existence of police stations between the two counties.

Hours later, Ojwang died in his cell after a severe assault, according to a postmortem report conducted on Tuesday, June 10.

Which car transported Albert Ojwang from Homa Bay?

DCI Director Mohamed Amin, while appearing for interrogation at the Senate on Wednesday, June 11, clarified the circumstances of Ojwang's transfer.

He issued the details of the car that ferried Ojwang from Mawego Police Station in Homa Bay to Nairobi, insisting that he was taken directly to the Nairobi station.

He stated:

"The vehicle that was used to ferry the deceased from Homa Bay county to Nairobi was a DCI vehicle, a GKC519B Subaru Forester. And I can confirm without any fear of contradiction that from Homa Bay, the suspect was driven straight to the Central Police Station and nowhere else, and from this we can technically confirm even the movement of the Subaru vehicle by using the GPS system. Some members were alluding to the fact that may the suspect was taken to DCI headquarters, and nothing can be far from the truth."

According to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the suspect and the DCI officers departed from Homa Bay at 3.50pm and reached Nairobi at around 9.30pm.

He revealed that their first and only stopover was in Narok Town to have refreshments before continuing with their journey.

At the venue, Ojwang reportedly requested water, a soda, and a biscuit after the long journey.

What post led to Albert Ojwang's arrest?

Meanwhile, during the interrogation, the Senate was informed that blogger Ojwang published allegations claiming that Lagat strategically positioned his most trusted officers in charge of critical areas such as DCI desks, occurrence books, and traffic sheets to control revenue streams and intelligence flow.
