Edith Kendi Murochia

"It'll be interesting watching Murima playing the opposition card. Very interesting."

Thomas Kasisi

"This level of intolerance is not right. Just as they have the right to their opinion about the leadership, they should respect the opinions of others as well."

Backlash as Kikuyu artistes visit State House

Karangu Muraya, widely known for his charity work and gospel influence, has previously been praised for his donations to widows, orphans, and the sick.

However, his recent public appearances, particularly the State House visit, appear to have drawn mixed reactions among his supporters.

The visit attracted backlash on social media as many Kenyans interpreted it as a PR stunt by the government for personal gain.

Despite President William Ruto's message about improving the music industry, netizens questioned why only Kikuyu artistes were invited and accused them of chasing handouts.

Is Karangu Muraya safe?

Moments after the viral video emerged, speculation was rife on whether the Kikuyu singer and philanthropist was safe.

His second wife took to Facebook to assure netizens and concerned fans that Karangu was safe and sound.

"No need to panic, Karangu Muraya is doing fine," she said.

Karangu also took to Facebook Live to shed light on the incident, hilariously mentioning that the locals did not remove his turban as widely claimed.

"While I was in Murang'a, I received a call from one of the officers in one of the prisons who said he wanted to meet with me. I told him to tell me what he needed so that I could donate to them. I went to a shop and bought some foodstuffs and toiletries for the prisoners," he narrated.

Karangu said as he ran into a crowd that was shouting wantam.

"I told the driver to open the door of the vehicle so get away from that crowd. Nobody hit me and I am well. Let me say that I am not a politician. We should not hate each other as a community due to politics," he said.

The singer also said he would not look for a bodyguard because he believes he is safe.

Karangu in trouble for defending SHA

The State House visit came hot on the heels of another controversial invite to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's residence in Karen.

During the meeting, the Kikuyu musician praised the government's work in the health sector, adding that it was efficient.

Karangu annoyed Kenyans by claiming that the Social Health Authority (SHA) fund had paid his brother's KSh 460,000 hospital bill.

Racheal Nyaguthie, HoD Human Interest, added the section on whether Karangu is safe.
