The mother appeared to have just arrived home when she found her son comfortably sitting on the sofa, sporting a new hairstyle.

He had dreadlocked hair, which did not impress his mother, prompting her to scold him, as seen in the video.

"This one came back home with braided hair, hoping to receive a prodigal son reception ? but an African mum is an African mum. In her house, women will be women and men will be men. Play on," the Facebook caption read.

The young man remained seated on the comfy sofa while his mother stood beside him, examining his hair.

She questioned him on why he had chosen a hairstyle that made her feel upset and disgusted.

"You decided to braid your hair and you're a man? Or do you admire being a woman? What influenced you to keep your hair like this? Do you see those young men who abuse substances? They are the ones who keep such hair. Or are you also using bhang these days?" she angrily asked.

She attempted to remove the hairband holding his locks together, but the young man became defensive.

He told his mother not to touch his hair or remove the band, but she was adamant and challenged him.

"Do you want to fight me? Your mother? What is this? You?ve started using hairbands like a lady? Do you desire to be a woman? Do you desire to use bhang? If this is the style you've chosen, then let me go and shave my hair so that you can be the woman of the house," she said.

Mother angry as her son braids hair

In a similar story, another mother was surprised when her son visited her at her shop wearing a hairstyle she disliked.

The young man had just finished his high school exams and decided to try a new look.

However, his mother declared that he would not sleep in her house with braided hair ? instead, he would sleep in the shop.
