Pwani University Holds Emotional Candle Lighting for Albert Ojwang, 4 Comrades Who've Died Recently

Several university comrades have passed away in the first half of 2025, including students from Pwani University, Kilifi county.

The educational institution paid emotional tributes to five of their comrades who met tragic ends recently.

Among them was slain blogger Albert Ojwang, whose death shattered many hearts and sparked national outrage.

"Today, as the Pwani University community gathers for a special candle-lighting ceremony, we pause to honor and remember our beloved comrades whom we have lost in this first part of the year. Their presence is deeply missed, and their memories will forever remain in our hearts.

"Pwani University Students media offers a solemn tribute to these bright souls who were part of our family. May their legacies inspire us, and may we find solace in the bonds of our community during this difficult time," read a post on Facebook.

Other comrades who sadly died recently from the university included Daniel Muthami, Emily Boisabi, Lorraine Bahati, and Billy Abhir.

It was a great loss to the institution, which also penned a moving poem in memory of the fallen comrades:

"Eternal Echoes. In Pwani?s halls, a quiet hum for comrades lost, our hearts succumb. Since January?s early light, five stars have faded into night.

"A gathering now, by candle?s gleam to honor those?a cherished dream. Their laughter echoes in the air, a presence missed beyond compare. Through PUSM?s lens, a tribute pure for bright souls gone, whose spirits endure. They were our family, vibrant, true. Their legacies?a guiding hue."

Albert Ojwang's widow pens emotional Father's day tribute

In another story, Nevnina Neeiynah, Ojwang's widow, penned an emotional Father?s Day tribute to the love of her life.

She reflected on the painful reality of facing the special day?and the rest of her life?without the man she loved.

Nevnina expressed deep sorrow on a day that was meant to be filled with joy and affection.
