Kenya vs Cameroon: Preview, Possible Lineups and How to Watch AFCON Qualifier

Harambee Stars will this afternoon be out for revenge when they face Cameroon for the second time in four days

The Indomitable Lions beat Kenya convincingly in the race to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

TUKO.co.ke looks at the team preview ahead of the game, with Harambee Stars facing a couple of concerns

Kenya's national football team will this afternoon look to make instant amends when they play Cameroon again in Kampala.

Harambee Stars will entertain the five-time African champions at the Mandela National Stadium three days after the 4-1 mauling in Yaounde.

Kenya were second-best for long periods in the game as Christiano Bassogog inspired Cameroon to a comfortable victory.

Engin Firat will be aware that while another loss won't effectively seal Kenya's hopes of qualifying for next year's AFCON, it would be very damaging in the grand scheme of things.

Kenya vs Cameroon team news

Kenya

Many fans have questioned why Patrick Matasi was given the nod to start in goal in the first match. The Kenya Police custodian committed comical blunders as Cameroon ran riot.

There is a strong likelihood that Bandari FC goalkeeper Byrne Omondi will be in between the sticks in Kampala.

Assistant captain Joseph Okumu is also expected to start after coming on at halftime as he continues to recuperate from a niggling injury concern. Should the French-based defender start, Amos Nondi could be relegated to the bench to accommodate Daniel Anyembe in the right-back position.

The major headache for Firat will be Michael Olunga, who missed the last training session on Sunday. John Avire and Jonah Ayunga could deputise for the Al-Duhail striker who bagged the consolation goal in Yaounde.

Cameroon

Marc Brys doesn't have a lot of injury concerns, save for Christopher Wooh, who has since returned to his club after that nasty head clash with Sylvester Owino.

The Belgians sounded a warning that Kenya could still hurt them but were confident of a good performance. He is expected to stick with the same lineup as Friday, with only Jean-Charles Castelletto coming in to replace Wooh.

Kenya vs Cameroon date and time

The game will kick off at 4 PM Kenyan time on Monday, October 14, at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

Where and how to watch Kenya vs Cameroon

The national broadcaster KBC is unlikely to televise the match after failing to secure Free-To-Air rights from New World TV.

The game will be available on other forums like Canal+ Sport 1 (DSTV Channel 723), BeIN SPORTS CONNECT and BeIN Sports MAX 5. Livesports088 has also indicated they will air the match.

Possible lineups

Kenya

Byrne Omondi; Anyembe, Okumu, Omurwa, Ouma; Odada, Akumu, Abuya; Ouma, Onyango, Olunga

Cameroon

Onana; Nohou, Tchatchoua, Ngadeu, Castelletto; Baleba, Anguissa, Hongla; Mbeumo, Aboubakar, Bassogog.

Onana sent to Ten Hag by Ugandan fans

In another report by TUKO.co.ke, Onana was sent to Erik ten Hag with a clear message. Onana was mobbed by fans upon his arrival in Uganda for the rematch against Kenya.

A Ugandan man, who identified himself as a Manchester United fan, asked Onana to tell Ten Hag to produce better results.

Ten Hag is currently facing increased pressure following a spate of poor results. The Red Devils have only won twice in their first seven Premier League games.
