Highly-rated Italian identified as perfect for Tottenham's current woes

Much has been made of Tottenham's urgent need to pull their midfield roster out of transition and into a position of strength, as Ange Postecoglou struggles to build on his debut season in North London.

But it has been reported that a former member of the club's operations may be pivotal in sending one possible answer to that dilemma to Spurs over considerable competition such as Manchester City and AC Milan.

Samuele Ricci, 23, has seen his profile rise thanks to recent performances in Serie A for Torino.

And his subsequent inclusion in the Italian national team has only bolstered his reputation ? particularly thanks to his role at the heart of their big come-from-behind 3-1 victory in France last month.

While Milan and City's interest had already been widely reported, the fact Ricci seems to be exactly what Tottenham need right now would give them a big incentive to pursue the CM.

Former Tottenham director Paratici's possible role

InterLive are claiming that Fabio Paratici, who was the Spurs director of football from 2021 until 2023 when his position was rendered untenable by a worldwide ban from FIFA over capital gains violations, is still regarded as having a valuable opinion by the Premier League side.

The site has listed a number of players Paratici seems to have been tracking recently, with Ricci reportedly being his keenest interest. They go on to cite Paratici's record for identifying young talent for consideration at Tottenham.

Should Spurs sign Samuele Ricci from Torino?

If Tottenham can make an enticing financial offer to the player as well as make more assuarances of regular first-team football than City and Milan can, it could be enough to get them over the finish line at the expense of very stiff competition.

Torino currently sit seventh in the Serie A table, behind Milan only via goal difference with each having 11 points from their opening seven matches.
