Blue Jays urged to reunite with projected $73 million All-Star

The Toronto Blue Jays had a surprising 2024 season, to say the least.

Heading into the 2024 campaign, it was the expectation that the Blue Jays would be among the best teams in baseball. Toronto has a fantastic young core led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette. The Blue Jays have talent all throughout the roster, and it seemed like a guarantee that they would be good in 2024.

Things didn't work out, though.

The Blue Jays finished in last place in the American League East and now need to go back to the drawing board. Toronto dealt away some of its impending free agents ahead of the deadline and now needs to add in free agency.

Toronto has been linked to a handful of players, but the best free agent who will be out there is New York Yankees star Juan Soto. The Blue Jays tried to get Shohei Ohtani and failed. They likely will at least try for Soto as well.

If he signs elsewhere, FanSided's Zach Pressnell urged the Blue Jays to reunite with All-Star slugger Teoscar Hern?ndez.

"For the Blue Jays, there are a ton of different players that would make sense in free agency this offseason," Pressnell said. "But, if I had to choose one player that would make the most sense for the team, the fans, and the player involved, it would be a reunion with Teoscar Hern?ndez. Hern?ndez spent the first six seasons of his big league career with the Blue Jays. Toronto ended up trading him to the (Seattle Mariners) before the 2023 season...

"With the (Los Angeles Dodgers) not engaging in contract talks yet, this puts all 30 teams on an even playing field for Hern?ndez this offseason. When he was with the Blue Jays, he was incredible and all the fans loved him. Ross Atkins and the Blue Jays could right one of their wrongs by bringing Hern?ndez back for a 2025 postseason push."

Don't be surprised if speculation picks up about a reunion.
