Why did man hit police officer?

The clip, captured by CCTV cameras on Tuesday, May 27, shows the man in a blue shirt and black trousers fueling a vehicle. A police officer in full uniform, carrying a rifle, is seen arguing with the man.

The officer moves close to the man, as a bystander steps in to pacify them. The man, seemingly a petrol station attendant, points at the cop at close range. The officer loses his cool, pulls at the man's hand, and throws a punch.

Infuriated, the man stops pumping fuel into the vehicle and descends on the officer with heavy blows. The officer's cap falls, and he drops the gun as the man continues hitting him while bystanders watch. The blows are too much for the officer to handle, and he falls, with the man continuing to punch him.

Suddenly, several cops rush onto the scene to rescue their colleague. They pull the angry man away from the officer on the ground. A black Land Rover Defender then pulls onto the scene, and the man is bundled into it.

Wahome Thuku, the lawyer who shared the video, said that the officer should be charged with assault.

?I have heard people claim that you should never fight cops. No, you should defend yourself lawfully. There are constitutional ways of effecting an arrest. The officer was not arresting him, he was fighting him. If you play this clip in court, you lose your case. Without the clip, they will say he tried to disarm the officer.?

However, Wahome predicted that the man would have a rough time for beating up the officer.

?The cop was slapped and dropped his gun? What if there was no backup? Take him to the anti-stock theft unit in Gilgil.?

Kenyans reacted by saying:

Moses Gitonga:

?Anti-stock theft? Won't goats knock him over??

Patrick Muli:

?According to my assessment, that guy is a boxer. No one unleashes such a combination of punches.?

Elizabeth Muthoni:

?The question that seals all fate: Who threw the first punch??

Edwin Kipkoech:

?But I'm sure before that court case, the guy went through a lot, so it's a draw.?
