The incident went viral and drew widespread criticism.

Why did Pastor Ng'ang'a slap congregant?

In a recent church gathering, the outspoken preacher called forward the man he had previously slapped for allegedly dozing off during the service.

The moment, which sparked mixed reactions across the country, was addressed publicly for the first time, with both Pastor Ng?ang?a and the congregant appearing unfazed by the backlash.

"He had called me and I didn?t save his number," Pastor Ng?ang?a narrated to the congregation.

"He called me another day and I invited him to church. Then he later called me and told me, 'I?m the guy you slapped in church, Apostle.??

Man slapped by Pastor Ng'ang'a speaks out

The church fell silent as Ng?ang?a asked the man a bold question:

"Are you ready to be slapped again?"

To the surprise of many, the man responded with unwavering conviction:

"There is no problem. I?m ready for another slap. Let me be slapped and the gospel continues. I?m ready to be an example to others. You can?t have demons in you and be peaceful. That was a slap of blessing."

The congregant went on to describe how he used to suffer from disturbing dreams, including episodes involving a "spiritual wife," despite spending time praying and fasting in the mountains.

According to him, the slap changed his spiritual experience.

"You had previously slapped me. You slapped me, but that didn?t go viral. You have slapped me twice. It was so nice. You slapped me and I fell ? I felt nice," he added, leaving Pastor Ng?ang?a momentarily stunned.

While the man appeared to embrace the slaps as part of his spiritual deliverance, many Kenyans on social media have condemned the pastor?s actions as an abuse of spiritual authority.

Legal experts and human rights defenders have also questioned why such conduct continues to go unchallenged in places of worship.

Despite the controversy, Pastor Ng?ang?a remained unapologetic, likening his actions to those of Jesus cleansing the temple:

"Go and sit down," he told the man.

"My viewers, wherever you are, this is the guy who was asleep. He just came back. If you love a child, you must cane him. My master, the Lord, found people doing business in the church ? he pushed their tables and caned them."

George Kaluma demands closure of Ng'ang'a's church

Elsewhere, Homa Bay Township MP George Kaluma called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Pastor Ng?ang?a.

He cited his actions as a violation of worshippers? rights and a potential indicator of deeper abuse within the church.

Kaluma also appealed to anyone with information about the assaulted individuals to report the matter to police or reach out to him directly for support.
