MC Fullstop has addressed and dismissed recent rumours claiming he had passed away

The confusion arose after a tribute video meant for veteran broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela was misunderstood

In 2023, Fullstop said he was battling recurring tuberculosis infections, revealing the severe toll it had taken on his health.

He shared that he lost full function in one lung due to a TB infection in 2021, and a year later, throat TB severely affected his voice.

With basic activities like walking and running becoming increasingly difficult, the DJ hinted at stepping away from the stage.

Is MC Fullstop alive?

The rumours of his passing started on Wednesday, April 16, when Deejay Smash shared a video of the legendary reggae hypeman on Facebook.

The clip showed Fullstop paying homage to fallen broadcast journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela.

"I wanna say to one of the veteran MCs and radio broadcasters, Leonard Mambo Mbotela. They inspired us back in the day before we had TVS and the internet," he said.

Smash shared the video and captioned it:

"Rest in peace, Mzee."

Since Mbotela died months ago, some Kenyans were led to believe that Fullstop was no more.

Smash realised that numerous people had misinterpreted the post and set the record straight.

He said that he had made a tribute video to Mbotela, and Fullstop was alive.

The incident caught Fullstop?s attention, and he shared a screenshot of the post on his Instagram account.

"But why?" he wondered.

While responding to a fan in the comments section, Fullstop noted that it was not the first time such rumours had circulated online.

How did wellwishers help MC Fullstop?

In 2021, Fullstop received financial assistance following a lengthy hospital stay due to a lung illness.

He had been off the entertainment scene while battling labor pneumonia and undergoing treatment at Nairobi West Hospital.

He appealed for financial assistance and on November 15, a betting company stepped in to cover his medical expenses, which reportedly exceeded KSh 500,000.

The support came just in time, as he was discharged the same day.
