This comes in the wake of remarks by Nandi senator Samson Cherargei, who hinted at a possible impeachment motion being orchestrated by 'government sympathisers'.

According to Cherargei, Natembeya?s statements could potentially incite tribal tensions in the cosmopolitan county.

However, Natembeya has strongly refuted the allegations, arguing that his bold stance on regional politics and inclusive development has unsettled individuals who have long benefited from the region?s disunity.

He believes this political discomfort is linked to fears over the influence he and the region may wield in the 2027 national political landscape.

"It took just one person to change the course of regional politics. When he died, many people began taking this region for granted. That?s why we are saying we must recollect ourselves," Natembeya stated.

What is Natembeya's track record in Trans Nzoia?

Natembeya also dismissed claims that his administration has failed to implement development projects in Trans Nzoia.

"People need to understand how governments work. When we assumed office, we reviewed all proposed projects. Some already had blueprints, and we had to seek friends to partner with. Some of these projects are nearing completion," he added.

The outspoken governor highlighted a number of development projects that he is confident will transform the lives in Trans Nzoia and the broader Western region once completed.

1. Tom Mboya Mother and Child Hospital

Natembeya cited this facility as a top priority for his administration. Once completed, it will address the growing demand for maternal and child healthcare services in the county.

"The super modern facility will serve our mothers and children. It?s one of a kind, I can assure residents," he said.

2. Kenyatta Stadium

Natembeya recalled that youth agenda formed part of his manifesto, a campaign promise that propelled him to the top county seat. According to him, the Kenyatta Stadium will provide infrastructure to help youth nurture their talent and expose them to the global spotlight.

"The stadium will have a 20,000-seat capacity. It will be multi-purpose, with office space, a hotel, and powerful floodlights to allow youths to maximise its use, as well as generate revenue for the county," he noted.

3. County administrative headquarters

Natembeya described the upcoming county administrative block as an ambitious undertaking, adding that it will put together all county government services to reduce time wastage and improve service delivery to the people of Trans Nzoia.

"This project will reduce time wastage and bring together all county services to the people. It will help monitor service delivery and curb corruption by ensuring transparency in one central location," he explained.

What did Natembeya say about Wamalwa Kijana Referral Hospital?

Natembeya acknowledged existing challenges his administration is facing in the healthcare sector. He clarified that healthcare remains a shared responsibility between the national and county governments.

"Wamalwa Kijana facility was a project started by my predecessor. When we took over, we found funds had already been used. We set up a commission to investigate and recommend a way forward. We faced issues with drug supply, but we now have enough stock. Let politicians not mislead our people. This is a collective responsibility, and we are addressing it," he stated.

MCAs defend Natembeya, blast senators over tribalism claims

In a previous story covered by TUKO.co.ke, a section of Trans Nzoia MCAs strongly defended Natembeya against accusations of tribal politics.

Led by Hospital Ward MCA Erick Wafula, the ward reps accused some senators of interfering with county affairs and trying to frustrate Natembeya?s push for Luhya unity.

Echoing these sentiments, Deputy Speaker Obed Mwale and Machewa MCA Kisiang?ani Wambwa called on all leaders to respect the governor?s mandate and instead focus on service delivery and fulfilling campaign promises.
