"It was after praise and worship in church when the pastor asked the congregation if anyone had a word or a need. I looked at my life and how I have suffered and struggled to get an education, how my mother, a single mum, struggled to raise seven children. It was not getting any better, and I stood up to give a testimony of the challenges I was experiencing.

After the service my pastor called me and shared that there was a man he would introdce me to. He said the man would help me with education and many other needs," she recaleld.

Moraa received a call a few days later from the man of God to meet him at a certain place in Lucky Summer.

Her mother gave her fare with the little money she had earned from her menial job, hoping her daughter would receive help.

"When I got there, I remember in that room there was that pastor, another boy, and another man. So later on, I came to learn that the boy was a distant cousin of the pastor and then this other man, who is now my ex-husband, and then the pastor. The pastor started telling me that his friend was a good man and he had had a wife who ran away with all his belongings, but he was a hardworking man. He told me that if I got married to him, he would help me out and even assist me in getting my certificate from school.

I was so desperate. I wanted an education, and my certificate was still at my former high school, and I felt like I wanted to go back to school, and because he had promised me that he'd do that for me, I saw some hope finally appearing in my life. I didn't give in immediately, but I went to ask my mum, who told me to get married to the 43-year-old man," she said.

Moraa's hope of going back to school was shattered after she got pregnant three weeks into the new relationship.

Why did Moraa keep going back to her ex?

As though that was not enough, her ex who was a truck driver took her to her inlaws who did not warmly welcme her.

"They rejected and ridiculed me. They were not caring for me. They even asked who would take me to the hospital when I am due, since my husband was a truck driver and was barely home most of the time.

The man never took me to school. He never cared for me. Not once or twice have I gone back home but whenever I get there and see how my mother is suffering then I return to the man. He asks, 'Where are you going and you are poor? You have nothing'. These words would break my heart depite them being true," she said.

It took her a year and seven months before she went her separate ways with her then-husband and never looked back.
