Speaking on Saturday, April 20, Chesang claimed Trans Nzoia residents were suffering despite the county receiving devolved funds.

While criticising Natembeya?s administration, the senator highlighted persistent drug shortages in hospitals under the devolved unit.

Chesang said the increasing financial strain on families because of poor healthcare services had forced them to seek costly alternatives, including those already registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA).

According to Chesang, while SHA is working in other areas, Trans Nzoia residents are suffering because of a lack of drugs in hospitals.

Chesang vowed to continue criticising Natembeya's administration until residents get the services they deserve.

The senator promised to lead the registrations of the residents to SHA to unsure they benefit from Taifa Care.

"My mobile clinic vehicles will be coming here frequently to bring you drugs. If you see me bringing drugs here, it means I know you are suffering. My people will register you with the SHA for free. Anyone who has benefited from SHA understands the importance of the new healthcare system. And I will not keep quiet when you are suffering. Funds for drugs have been dispersed, but there are no drugs in hospitals," Chesang stated.

Chesang was speaking during his annual community outreach programme, where he donated foodstuffs to residents to celebrate the Easter Holiday.

He used the opportunity to encourage residents to enrol in SHA as a step towards achieving universal healthcare.
